一友自叹：「私意萌时，分明自心知得，只是不能使他即去。」

先生曰：「你萌时这一知处，便是你的命根。当下即去消磨，便是立命工夫。」
一位朋友自己叹道：「私意萌发时，自己心里分明知道，只是不能使它立刻去掉。」
先生说：「你萌发时这一知处，便是你的命根。当下即去消磨，便是立命的功夫。」
A friend sighed: 'When private intent sprouts, my own heart knows it clearly — only I cannot make it go at once.'
The Master said: 'That very knowing at the sprouting is your root of life. Grind it away on the spot — that is the work of establishing the Mandate.'
